JAMES BOND FOREVER

uploaded by cathcath.com

I like spy movies. I grew up with Bond films (who wouldn't when there is James Bond in every decade?)that I do not miss the reruns of these old films during some holidays when the whole week is a James Bond week. My favorite is Sean Connery. He's the first Bond. The latest is Daniel Craig

First James Bond movie of Sean was Dr. No(1962) and his twefth that includes the Longest Day. Other James Bond films are: (1963 )From Russia With Love; (1964) Goldfinger ; (965)Thunderball;1967 You Only Live Twice;(1971) Diamonds Are Forever.

After the "You Only Live Twice", Connery announced that he did

not want to do any Bond movie. George Lazenby was the second James Bond in a film On Her Majesty's Secret Service in 1968 with Telly (Kojak) Savalas as the villain and Diana Rigg ("knighted" or "Damed" for her contribution in the arts and films) as the only

Mrs. James Bond.

That was the first and the last movie for Lazenby. In 1971, Connery was

lured back with a fatter pay cheque to do Diamonds are Forever.

In the 1970's the producers brought in an established star, Roger Moore(The Saint)

who did not come at par with Sean in his first three Bond films but later on was accepted as the successor of the iconic first Bond. His first Bond movie was Live and Let Die (1973)(I like the sound track). He acted the James Bond role the longest before he retired at the age of 58. His other Bond films are:

* The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)

* The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

* Moonraker (1979)

* For Your Eyes Only (1981)

* Octopussy (1983)

* A View to a Kill (1985).

Timothy Dalton was first offered the James Bond role before Roger Moore in the 1970's. He thought that he was too young to succeed Sean Connery. But when Moore retired, he readily accepted with the movie Living Daylights.

The first, The Living Daylights (1987) was successful and grossed more than the previous two Roger Moore Bond films as well as contemporary box office rivals such as Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.

The second film, Licence to Kill (1989) did not perform as well at the U.S. box office, in large part due to a lacklustre marketing campaign.

Dalton's third Bond film (rumoured title: The Property of a Lady) due for a 1991

never release was never shown due to litigation cases.

After the Bond films, he acted in the mini-series of Scarlett as "Gone with the Wind" Rhett Butler.

Pierce Brosnan of Remington Steele fame replaced Timothy when he retired in 1993.

Pierce Brosnan who was rumoured to be the next James Bond to succeed Roger Moore finally made it as the 5th Agent 007 to star in GoldenEye, the highest grossing James Bond film of all time, with over $350 million in ticket sales until it was surpassed

by 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies.
